A post a stumbled upon – Speed up Firefox on Linux – Disable IPv6 Lookups. I don’t know if it works but I’m trying it now.
In a nutshell:
- about:config
- in the filter field, type “DNS” and hit enter
- double-click on “network.dns.disableIPv6″, changing its value from False to True

his fixed worked faster than yours… didn’t have to wait 20 minutes for a page to load and then download something, runs fast enough now that I don’t even have time to double click before the next page loads lol, fasterfox…. unnecessary hehe
Thanks!
