ipcalc – a tool I used to use years ago but had forgotten about.

sudo aptitude install ipcalc
% ipcalc 192.168.1.0/26

    There is also sipcalc and subnetcalc.

    there is an iphone app as well. no need to force fiddly maths upon yourself.
    hurray for ipv6 with /64′s for everything.
